Demolition of the old Giraffe House, Hippo House and Aviary in Dublin Zoo, all while the Zoo was open to the public.

 

November - December 2000

Enabling works and partial demolition to 13/14 Burgh Quay, the old 'Irish Press' Building. This work included the design and erection of temporary works that allowed all of the existing stabilising core structures to be removed without compromising the building. Also included the removal of the foundations to two load-bearing columns, using enabling temporary works, to allow the excavation of the new lift shaft.

 

September - October 2000

Following a disastrous attempt by the builder to remove part of 'Cumiskeys' Pub on Dominick Street, we were called in to (a) stabilise the building (still occupied and trading), (b) design and erect temporary works, (c) demolish half of the building.
This work was executed without causing any further movement to the building while ensuring that the business remained trading and the residence above remained habitable.

 

June - August 2000

Gutting out of 'Block 66'. This building was the office accomodation for Fine Gael and Fianna Fail within Government Buildings, and the work had to be carried out under the strictest of controls.

 

May - July 2000

Removal of all internal walls in the basement of the Department of Finance. These were built to provide a bomb shelter in case of emergency and included a structural steel frame in case the building overhead collapsed. All of this material had to be demolished and removed without interfering with the Department which continued its business overhead.

 

April - October 2000

Retention works to nr.26 Camden Street ' Bridget Moore Bridal Designs' and the demolition of the adjoining building. This work included the design of the temporary works. Also included was the bulk excavation and drainage work. Breaking and cutting of piles was also done, as was difficult hand excavation next to the retained building.

 

January - November 2000

Demolition of Mount Salus Press printing works on Kevin Street, including support work to explosive contractor. Subsequent excavation to a depth of 8m including design and erection of temporary propping to adjoining properties. Also included was all support work to the main contactor, McNamara, which incorporated breaking and cutting piles.

 

November 1999 - March 2000

Demolition of old Macushla Bingo Hall on Foley Street, Dublin 1, and the subsequent sheet piling, propping, and excavation. Temporary propping to adjoining property on Buckingham Street.
