IGB. This 25 acre project in Dublin 4 is the site of the former Irish Glass Bottle Company. Due to its former use as a factory, and previously as a waste facility, strict environmental, health and safety controls were adhered to in all aspects of demolition and disposal.

The first phase of the IGB project involved the demolition of a series of large warehouses including the careful removal of the 12m high asbestos roof using groups of MEWP’s, before shearing and recycling the structural steel.

The next phase involved the dismantling of factory machinery including 25m high storage towers, industrial furnaces, conveyors, soft stripping, and subsequent demolition using a high reach excavator in conjunction with a team of support excavators and crushers to segregate and recycle materials.

During demolition of the offices and minor buildings, the tank farm was drained and prepared for dismantling. It comprised of five tanks measuring up to 20m in height, which were shorn in large sections from the top down using a specialized shears attached to a high reach excavator.
